L’église Saint-Michel est la seule du diocèse de Paris à être consacrée au prince des archanges. Bâti en briques de Bourgogne dans le style romano-byzantin de 1913 à 1925 par l’architecte Bernard Haubold, l’édifice actuel a succédé à deux églises provisoires, élevées en 1858 et 1903. Au sommet de son campanile brille la statue de l’archange, sœur jumelle de celle du Mont-Saint-Michel, en cuivre repoussé et doré, œuvre du sculpteur Emmanuel Frémiet. La décoration intérieure comprend un important mobilier de bois précieux marqueté (chemin de croix, chaire, ambons, stalles et banc d’œuvre). Acquis en 1937 de l’ancien hôtel Majestic, son orgue comporte trois claviers de trente-cinq jeux.
Saint-Michel’s Church is the only one of the Diocese of Paris to be dedicated to the Prince of the Archangels. Built from 1913 to 1925 with Burgundy bricks in the Romano-Byzantine style by the architect Bernard Haubold, this current building succeeded two temporary churches dated 1858 and 1903. At the top of its spire shines the statue of the archangel, duplicate of the one at the top of the Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel made of embossed and gilded copper by the sculptor Emmanuel Frémiet. The interior decoration includes a significant amount of precious inlaid wooden furniture (stations of the cross, pulpit, ambo, stalls, churchwarden pews). Acquired in 1937 from the former Hotel Majestic, the organ has 3 keyboards, 35 stops.
